Colby Smith made it clear that his decommitment “Does not mean Tennessee is out, I just need to take a step back.

But Smith still announced on Monday that “there is just too much uncertainty,” following the reported firing of coach Jeremy Pruitt.”

“I committed on the notion that I’d be playing for coach Pruitt, so I need to take a step back to really reevaluate and pray about my situation to make sure I make the right choice, so as of right now, I am decommitting from the University of Tennessee,” he wrote on social media.

Smith was the second decommitment since reports of Pruitt’s firing surfaced around noon ET on Monday. Four-star receiver Jordan Mosley from McGill Toolen High School in Mobile, Ala. was the first decommit. Mosley was the highest-rated prospect committed but unsigned in Tennessee’s 2021 recruiting class.
