VFL Charles Davis believes Rick Barnes and UT's basketball team have helped restore Tennessee's national brand
It wasn’t that long ago that Tennessee was a national brand thanks in large part to the success of the football program under Phillip Fulmer.
That notoriety has diminished in recent years thanks to several lackluster seasons on the gridiron but former Tennessee player and current NFL analyst Charles Davis has recognized the fact that Rick Barnes and his basketball program are doing much the same for the university this season.
Whether it’s holding the No. 1 national ranking for a month this season, to advancing the SEC Tournament Championship to the team’s latest achievement, advancing to the Sweet 16, Davis has begun to see more and more people support the Big Orange — including in his home state of Florida.
Davis was a recent guest of College Sports SiriusXM and discussed the tremendous job the basketball team has done this season making his school a national brand once again.
Tennessee takes on Purdue in the Sweet 16 tonight after a 31-5 season and 57 wins over the past two seasons.
