Tennessee coach Jeremy Pruitt addressed part of his staff’s refusal to take a voluntary pay cut at his weekly press conference on Monday morning.

Last week, it was reported that eight of Pruitt’s assistants declined to take pay cuts that would have helped the school’s budget in the wake of the pandemic.

“All I can say is this, the final chapter on that has not been written,” Pruitt said at his press conference on Monday. “They will continue to look and see and meet with the administration to see whatever they can do to help supplement the university.”

Pruitt and athletic director Phillip Fulmer have already accepted pay cuts for this season. Running backs coach Jay Graham and receivers coach Tee Martin also accepted the voluntary pay cut.

The rest of Tennessee’s assistant coaches did not accept pay cuts when approached with the idea by the university.

It’s worth noting both Graham and Martin played for the Vols.

Tennessee is at Auburn this weekend. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
