WATCH: AD Phillip Fulmer 'not against' Tennessee playing in another Battle at Bristol game
The Battle at Bristol contest between Tennessee and Virginia Tech back in 2016 was mostly a huge success for the Volunteers. After years of planning, the game finally came together and UT won on a national stage unlike any other college football game before it.
While Tennessee’s athletic director has voiced his support for the return of more home-and-home series, Phillip Fulmer said on Thursday he would be was “not against” a potential return to Bristol for Tennessee.
Fulmer’s comments came at the final stop of Tennessee’s 2018 Big Orange Caravan in Kingsport, Tennessee. According to SDS’ Dan Harralson, @danharralson on Twitter, Fulmer also had these comments during the event:
On Tennessee’s poor 2017 season:
“Whenever I hear 0-8 it sickens me.”
His thoughts on graduate transfer players and their ability to go to school where they desire:
“If a player graduates they should have a choice to go wherever.”
Harralson also shared this video of Fulmer’s comments on a potential return to Bristol:
