Tennessee commit Jacob Warren is listed at 6-foot-6 and 211 pounds, which in high school football and every day life would be plenty big. But it’s not the frame that will succeed as a tight end in the SEC, according to his future coach.

In an interview with WATE-6, Warren, of Knoxville, Tenn., recently outlined Pruitt’s no-nonsense description of what he expects out of the prospect. Warren has 19 offers, and has been committed to Tennessee since May.

“He just told me, you’re not going to be able to survive in the SEC, and that’s something I appreciate it,” Warren said. “Obviously, I know I need to put on weight, but nobody’s just straight up told me you can’t do it unless you get determined to improving yourself and improving your game. So I really respect that side of him.”

Last month, Warren caught eight passes for 97 yards and two touchdown grabs to lead Farragut to a 42-28 Class 6A first-round playoff victory over Cleveland, according to the Knoxville News-Sentinel. One of those touchdown grabs was not the first time he made a one-handed catch this season.
