Texas Tech fans were excited Saturday after taking down then-No. 22 Texas 37-34 in overtime. One fan in Lubbock, however, took the postgame celebration too far.

Red Raiders rushed the field after the thrilling finish. A video making the rounds on social media shows that a Texas player exiting the field was shoved in the back by a Texas Tech fan.

Texas Tech snapped a 4-year losing streak in the rivalry with Saturday’s win. The 2022 game might be Texas’ last trip to Lubbock for a while.

The Longhorns are joining the SEC in 2025 at the latest. Last month, Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports reported there are active discussions about Texas and Oklahoma potentially joining the SEC earlier than 2025, putting the 2024 trip to Lubbock in jeopardy.

Texas Tech coach Joey McGuire hopes to continue the in-state series as a nonconference game.
