Texas vs. Oklahoma State is a crucial matchup in the Big 12 standings. The Longhorns enter the game with a record of 5-2 and the No. 20 ranking in the AP Poll. Meanwhile, No. 11 Oklahoma State is coming off its first loss of the season at TCU last week and will look to improve to 6-1 on the year.

Saturday’s showdown in Stillwater is set to kick off at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ABC.

Texas vs. Oklahoma State preview

The Longhorns are a completely different team when Quinn Ewers is healthy and playing quarterback. But, this offense hasn’t been quite as good as Oklahoma State’s this year.

The Cowboys are averaging 45.3 points per game, just a half-point behind TCU atop the Big 12 rankings. Texas is down at No. 6, scoring 36.7 points per contest.

But, Ewers is a dynamic player. In his 4 games, he’s thrown for 820 yards, 9 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. Make no mistake, though, the Longhorns’ offense runs through RB Bijan Robinson.

Robinson is one of the best running backs in the entire country. Through Texas’s first 7 games, Robinson has 780 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. He also has 16 catches for 239 yards and a score. His 780 yards on the ground is good for No. 8 nationally.

Defensively, Jaylan Ford leads the charge for the Longhorns. The linebacker has been everywhere this year, recording a team-high 66 tackles (5.5 for a loss), 1 sack, 1 interception, 1 pass breakup, 2 forced fumbles and 1 fumble recovery.

Oklahoma State QB Spencer Sanders will need to know where Ford is at all times. Sanders is having a great year of his own, though. So far, he has thrown for 1,639 yards, 13 touchdowns and 3 interceptions while adding 309 yards and 8 touchdowns as a runner.

The Cowboys struggle to stop the pass, so Ewers and WR Xavier Worthy could end up having a big day. Oklahoma State ranks last in the Big 12 in stopping the pass, giving up 301 yards per game through the air. You can bet Steve Sarkisian and his staff will have a plan to exploit that.

Texas vs. Oklahoma State prediction

This game being in Stillwater will give the Cowboys an edge. Those fans are wild and will do everything in their power to impact the Longhorns’ offensive timing. These teams have played some epic shootouts in the past. That’ll happen again, but when the dust settles, the Cowboys will wrangle the Longhorns by 6 points.

Prediction: Oklahoma State 41, Texas 35
