Vanderbilt won’t be seeing one familiar foe when it takes on Baylor in the Texas Bowl.

Jalen Hurd, the former Tennessee running back who converted to wide receiver at Baylor, is reportedly out for the Dec. 27 contest after undergoing a procedure on his knee.

A member of the Volunteers for three seasons (2014-16), Hurd experienced back-to-back rivalry wins for UT (2014, ’15) before Vanderbilt’s current three-game winning streak started in 2016.

More importantly for the bowl game, this means Baylor will be without its leading pass-catcher in receiving yards (69 receptions, 946 yards). Denzel Mims is next on the team with 49 catches for 699 yards. Mims actually has more touchdowns (8) than Hurd (4).
