SEC Network analysts dissected Vanderbilt’s schedule Monday night.

The Commodores are coming off a 2016 season that saw them beat Georgia, Ole Miss and Tennessee; however, the loss against N.C. State in the bowl game put a damper on their strong finish to the regular season.

Analysts Booger McFarland and Marcus Spears, along with Dari Nowkhah, predicted the number of wins and losses for the Commodores this season.

McFarland picks the Commodores to finish 7-5, and his big upset pick comes against Kansas State. McFarland also picks Vanderbilt to beat South Carolina, which should turn out to be a really interesting game. The UK-Vanderbilt game should also be a good one, but McFarland thinks the Dores will lose to the Wildcats. Nonetheless, a 7-5 season would be a solid season and another building block for Derek Mason. You have to think that sitting 7-4 entering the Tennessee game would be something Mason would take in a heartbeat.

Spears, on the other hand, predicts the Commodores to miss a bowl game at 5-7. Unlike McFarland, he picked Kansas State to beat the Commodores, as well as South Carolina. Finishing 5-7 wouldn’t exactly be a step in the right direction.
