Vanderbilt baseball coach Tim Corbin calls out MLB for hosting draft during NCAA Tournament
The 2018 MLB Draft began on Monday night and continues throughout the early part of this week, even as 16 college baseball squads prepare for the super-regional round.
Some college players found out they were drafted while they were playing regional games, and that doesn’t sit right with Vanderbilt coach Tim Corbin.
Corbin joined “The Paul Finebaum Show” on Tuesday and spoke out against the timing of the draft, pointing out that other sports don’t hold their drafts while the college season is still going on:

"It doesn't make any sense to me whatsoever. Think about having the NFL Draft on January 1st or the NBA Draft on Sweet 16 weekend…the timing is terrible" pic.twitter.com/DBPoTh39bA

That wasn’t the first time Corbin spoke out against the timing of the draft, as he also shared his thoughts on Monday night during the first round, as you can see below:

“It’s borderline disrespectful,” he said. “It’s tough. I say that with respect, as I understand professional baseball is in a certain situation.”
Will the MLB change the timing of the draft in the future? It seems as if more college athletes and coaches are speaking out against it, so it is possible.
