Former Vanderbilt stars Kyle Wright and Dansby Swanson keyed the Atlanta Braves to a series-clinching win over the Miami Marlins in the National League Division Series on Thursday.

The Braves won 7-0 thanks to six shutout innings from Wright, who gave up two walks and struck out seven in his first postseason start. Swanson continued his hot postseason with a 2-for-3 outing at the plate with a walk and two RBIs, including a triple in the ninth inning.

The Braves have pitched four shutouts in five games during this year’s playoffs. Wright joined Ian Anderson as the first pair of rookie teammates in MLB history to pitch at least 6.0 scoreless innings in their playoff debut in a single postseason.

The Braves busted it open with a 4-run fourth inning, and then tacked on a run in the fourth and two in the fifth. The Braves will face the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers-San Diego Padres series, which the Dodgers led 2 games to none entering their game on Thursday night.

For Atlanta, this is the franchise’s first appearance in the the NL Championship Series since 2001 when Chipper Jones, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz played under Bobby Cox.
