During the first half of Saturday’s game between Florida and Vanderbilt, tempers flared between coaches Derek Mason and Dan Mullen.

A shouting match ensued, with both teams’ sidelines emptying in preparation for a fight. However, after the game, it was all hugs and smiles between the two coaches.

After the game, Mason shared his thoughts on what happened during that shouting match in the first half, as you can see in the video below, shared by Tennessean on YouTube:

“I talked to Dan at the end of the ballgame,” he said. “It was just a matter of, obviously, a player’s down and a player from the other sideline says something directed at me. I say something back and Dan gets mad. That’s how it started. Obviously, at the end of the day, we’re just trying to make sure we play the game the right way, keep the game safe and make sure everybody walks out of there.

“It’s the referee’s job to referee the game, not ours. … I’ve got a lot of respect for Dan and he respects the process. So do I.”

This matter seems to be put to rest, so don’t expect any comments like Mason had for Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly earlier this year.
