The Vanderbilt Commodores are the highest seed to make it to Omaha for the College World Series, so a lot of pressure is on them to win it all.

They opened their CWS campaign on Sunday afternoon against Louisville, and if they were nervous, it didn’t show at all. After breezing through the top of the first inning, the Commodores came to bat in the bottom of the frame and got off to a hot start.

As you can see below, star leadoff hitter Austin Martin launched a home run on the first pitch he saw:

Martin has been hot all postseason, even hotter than Vandy’s No. 2 hitter and the SEC’s 2019 home run leader, JJ Bleday.

The Commodores finished the first inning with a 1-0 lead, but there’s still a long way to go in this game.
