Mark Kingston held some high praise for Florida baseball standout Jac Caglianone Wednesday ahead of South Carolina and Florida’s Thurs-Sat series.
It’ll be a fun one, that much is for sure. The No. 3 Gators travel to Columbia for a matchup with the No. 6 Gamecocks, who have one of the top offensive teams in the country this season. Funnily enough, with this weekend’s series the best home run hitting team in the country will face off against the best home run hitter in the country, Jac Caglianone.
If you follow college baseball, you know of Caglianone’s dominance this season. He’s smacked 22 home runs this season, the most in the country. And he does it all while being Florida’s Sunday starter. And a dang good one at that, too.
South Carolina head coach Mark Kingston dubbed Caglianone the “Shohei Ohtani” of college baseball Wednesday:
Kingston: Florida’s Jac Caglianone is the Shohei Ohtani of college baseball. Pumps 98 from the mound as a Sunday starter, has smacked 22 homers.
He’s a tremendous talent, but Gamecocks have tremendous talent on their side, too.
