What Nick Saban said about Georgia ahead of SEC Championship Game
By Adam Spencer
Published:
The Georgia Bulldogs and Alabama Crimson Tide will square off in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon for the SEC title.
The Dawgs are the reigning conference champs, but the Tide beat Georgia in last year’s National Championship Game, so this rematch should have plenty of drama.
Ahead of Saturday’s game, Alabama coach Nick Saban spoke about the Bulldogs, including head coach Kirby Smart, who used to be Saban’s defensive coordinator.
Here’s what he had to say about Smart and the Bulldogs:
Nick Saban: "I'd like to congratulate Coach Smart and his team for winning the East. They will be a tremendous challenge."

On Smart’s work in Athens:
Saban on Kirby Smart:
Kirby has done a fantastic job at Georgia. We have our challenges to continue to play at the standard we're at. I've no doubt they will continue to do well. #SECCG— Scott Rabalais (@RabalaisAdv) November 30, 2018
On dangerous return man Mecole Hardman:
Saban: "Mecole Hardman is as fine a returner as I've seen anywhere in the country."

On if Alabama can make it to the Playoff with a loss:
Saban on if he's given any consideration to #Alabama still making the Playoff w/ a loss Saturday vs. UGA: "I think our total focus is on this game. … I don't really spend a lot of time thinking about what-ifs. And that's a what-if. Not really. No. We like to focus on the game."

Saturday’s game is sure to be a good one. It’ll be fun to see if the Tide remain unbeaten or if the Dawgs pull off the big-time upset.
