Hendon Hooker suffered an ACL tear a year ago in Tennessee’s penultimate game of the 2022 regular season against South Carolina.

The former Vols QB obviously took a draft hit because of that, landing with Detroit in the 3rd round. The assumed plan for Detroit is that once Hooker is healthy he can back up Jared Goff and potentially replace him if the going gets rough.

Well, now Hooker is healthy. Lions HC Dan Campbell told reporters Monday that Hooker could be activated off the NFI list, which means he can practice with the team as early as this week.

Some Lions fans are in the camp saying Hooker is the future in Detroit and he should be playing ASAP, especially after Goff struggled on Thanksgiving against Green Bay. But in all likelihood, the job is Goff’s unless ugly losses begin to stack up.

But for now, Detroit’s QB of the future is ready.
