Tennessee basketball will be without assistant coach Rod Clark for Monday night’s season opener against Tennessee Tech.

Clark is currently serving a 2-game suspension as Clark and UT are working to resolve an NCAA violation. There has been no further comment from UT or the NCAA regarding specifics.

“Coach Clark has acknowledged his error in judgment and accepted full responsibility,” UT said in a statement obtained by Knox News. “We appreciate his cooperation throughout the process.”

In addition to Tennessee’s matchup against Tennessee Tech on Monday night, Clark will miss the Vols’ true road contest against Wisconsin set for this Friday.

Tennessee basketball was picked to win the SEC this season and has perhaps the deepest team in the conference and one of the deepest squads in the country. Santiago Vescovi leads a talented lineup that includes Zakai Zeigler and Northern Colorado transfer Dalton Knecht alongside solid frontcourt players such as Tobe Awaka and Jonas Aidoo.

Tip for the Vols’ 2023-24 season is set for 6:30 on ESPN+
