If you’re looking for that No. 6 jersey during an Auburn game this fall, it won’t be worn by QB Jeremy Johnson.
That’s because he’s changing his number for the 2016 season, according to a report from AL.com.
The Auburn quarterback announced Tuesday he plans on wearing No. 1 for the Tigers in 2016 to honor Fred Davis, who lost his life at age 18 in a January 2011 single-car accident. Johnson and Davis were teammates on the Carver-Montgomery 2009-10 varsity basketball squad when Johnson was a freshman and Davis was a senior.
Here’s a look at the Instragram post that Johnson made on Tuesday:
Former WR D’haquille Williams previously wore No. 1 on the offensive side of the ball for the Tigers.
