Former South Carolina defensive coordinator Shawn Elliott was named Georgia State’s new head coach on Thursday.
As he prepares to assemble his coaching staff, Elliott decided to shoot for the moon with his offensive coordinator spot.
At his introductory press conference on Friday, he joked that he asked legendary Florida and South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier if he had any interest in the position, drawing a funny response from the Head Ball Coach:
Shawn Elliott "I called Coach Spurrier to see if he would be my offensive coordinator. He asked if he could just come on Saturdays."
