It was a surprising week in the SEC West. From upsets to freak plays to a dominating effort, the cream is rising to the top of the division. Here is what we’ve learned this week:

ALABAMA CRIMSON TIDE

Week 10 result: Alabama 30, LSU 16

What we learned: We learned Alabama is the best team in the division. It is also the best in the conference. We also learned something about the running backs in the division. In a national spotlight game with hundreds of Heisman Trophy voters watching, the Tide’s Derrick Henry ran for 210 yards while Leonard Fournette was held to 31 in Alabama’s 30-16 victory.

ARKANSAS RAZORBACKS

Week 10 result: Arkansas 53, Ole Miss 52

What we learned: When Brandon Allen gets hot, it is an inferno. The Arkansas quarterback torched the Ole Miss defense for 442 yards and six touchdowns in the overtime win over the Rebels. He completed 33 of 45 passes with no turnovers.

AUBURN TIGERS

Week 10 result: Auburn 26, Texas A&M 10

What we learned: We learned the Tigers do have a pass defense. Auburn held Texas A&M starting quarterback Kyler Murray to 105 yards passing and intercepted him three times. Murray’s quarterback rating was a dismal 19.9.

LSU TIGERS

Week 10 result: Alabama 30, LSU 16

What we learned: We learned the LSU defense has some difficulty tackling a power back. For the first time this season, the Tigers faced a back that doesn’t rely on finesse. Derrick Henry literally ran over LSU, as did backup Kenyan Drake.

MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS

Week 10 result: Mississippi State 31, Missouri 13

What we learned:  We learned Dak Prescott is one of the most dangerous weapons in the league. The senior threw for 303 yards and four touchdowns against Missouri in a driving rainstorm and ran for another 47. He is getting better as the season progresses.

OLE MISS REBELS

Week 10 result: Arkansas 53, Ole Miss 52

What we learned: The Rebels learned in hindsight that field position is important. Facing a fourth-and-short late in the game with Arkansas, coach Hugh Freeze elected to go for a first down instead of punting. Ole Miss failed and gave Arkansas a short field to work with as time wound down. The Razorbacks, instead of having to drive the length of the field, quickly moved into field goal position and made the kick to tie the game. Arkansas won in overtime.

TEXAS A&M AGGIES

Week 10 result: Auburn 26, Texas A&M 10

What we learned: We learned the Aggies’ run defense is getting worse. Auburn ran for 311 yards with Jovon Robinson gaining 159 himself. Texas A&M gave up nearly six yards per carry to the Tigers.
