Tennessee head coach Butch Jones may have asked fans to temper their expectations in the past, but moving forward, it appears the Vols’ coach plans on running at full steam ahead with the UT hype train.

During the latest stop of the Tennessee’s Big Orange Caravan in Franklin, Tenn., Jones called junior running back Jalen Hurd “the best running back in the country” thanks to all the things he can do on the football field, complemented with elite size and speed:

In his first two seasons on campus, Hurd has been able to pile up 2,595 total yards from scrimmage and 21 total touchdowns. If Hurd can rush for over 894 yards as a junior, he will become the leading rusher in the 120-year history of the Tennessee football program.

Not bad for a soft running back, eh Tee Martin?

Jones also revealed the team’s plan to run its first satellite camp June 5 at Tennessee State.

With the Vols landing so much midstate talent in recent years and a number of elite nationally ranked recruits coming from the area, Tennessee is wise to make the greater Nashville area their top priority.
