There is still over a week remaining until Arkansas and Virginia Tech square off in the Belk Bowl on Dec. 29, but the Hokies have already taken a hit.

As the result of an ACC investigation into allegations that a former Wake Forest assistant coach, who had become a broadcaster, leaked game plans to the Demon Deacons’ opponents, Virginia Tech has been fined $25,000, according to wholehogsports.com.

The story initially came to light after a 44-12 loss at Louisville, when Wake Forest began to suspect something was amiss. Virginia Tech was fined for reportedly receiving information in 2014, when the program was still run by longtime coach Frank Beamer.

According to Virginia Tech athletic director Whit Babcock, the information was provided to an unnamed Hokies assistant who was not retained by new head coach Justin Fuente.
