There’s something about coming home.

That’s what former USC OT E.J. Price will do when he transfers to Kentucky, sort of.

Price, from Lawrenceville, Georgia, told Big Blue Insider on Lexington’s NewsRadio 630 WLAP that he’s an “SEC guy.” Moreover, Price explained exactly why he’s transferring from USC to Kentucky. When asked if it was a matter of just being homesick, Price confirmed.

“Oh yeah, for sure,” Price said. “I definitely was extremely homesick. I loved it out here. They have a great team. I wish I could stay out here. It was just the distance; I’m only able to get home once a year. I’m a guy that needs that good Southern cooking. I need to be able to stop by people’s house and see everyone. I definitely just want to be closer to home. It was just a matter of that. Like I said, it’s a great team out here. Of course, it would have been a great opportunity, but I’m a guy that just needs to be a little closer to home.”

Exiting high school, Price was rated as the nation’s No. 10 OT and the state of Georgia’s No. 11 overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Price was considered a major recruiting victory for USC in the class of 2016, pulling him from the Peach State over multiple SEC offers.

Price left the USC football team last September. He’ll have to sit out the 2017 season due to NCAA transfer rules.
