Former Missouri DE Shane Ray could miss the start of the NFL season due to an injured wrist.
Ray, who plays linebacker for the Denver Broncos, tore a ligament in his wrist Friday. The recovery time for the injury is typically 6-8 weeks. If Ray is out the full eight weeks, he would not be able to play until Sept. 24 when Denver plays the Buffalo Bills.

Broncos coach Vance Joseph, is hopeful for an early. Joseph told the media that the goal is to have Ray back for Denver’s Week 2 contest against the Dallas Cowboys on Sept. 17. It appears the team is not expecting Ray to be ready for Week 1, a Monday night game against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 11.
Entering his third season, Ray has eight starts under his belt as an edge rusher for the Broncos. Last season, he had 48 combined tackles including eight sacks.
