With an uncertain coaching situation moving forward, it’s no surprise that Ole Miss’s momentum has slowed for the time being.

Also, potential NCAA punishments loom large over the program, making it hard to convince top recruits to pledge their allegiance to the Rebels.

However, on Tuesday night, the Rebels landed their first 2019 recruit when DE Jamond Gordon committed to the school.

Gordon, a Mississippi native, announced his decision on Twitter:

According to the 247Sports composite, Gordon is the No. 46 weak-side defensive end in the class of 2019 and the No. 22 overall recruit from the state of Mississippi.

It remains to be seen how much help Gordon will get in the Rebels’ 2019 class, but Ole Miss’s 2018 class isn’t looking so good. It currently ranks No. 82 in the country and last in the SEC, per 247Sports.
