College football fans, especially those in the SEC, are among the most passionate in all of sports, but certain “fans” take things too far.

The Florida Gators are one team that has had a disappointing season, and it is especially disappointing considering the Gators had won the SEC East each of the last two seasons. Florida is now 3-5 this year and in the midst of a four-game losing streak that has seen the team part ways with Jim McElwain.

One of the big disappointments surrounding the team this year has been a stagnant offense. Florida hasn’t scored more than 17 points since Sept. 30 when it knocked off Vanderbilt 38-24.

Freshman QB Feleipe Franks has struggled for the Gators and has received harsh criticism as a result. Criticism is one thing, but a recent story highlighted some terrible comments directed at Franks on social media.

Fellow Gators QB Luke Del Rio responded to the story on Twitter and called out the “few idiots” while encouraging Florida fans to be better:

Hopefully Gators fans will find a way to support and encourage the team in the midst of a rough stretch.

Florida will look to end its losing streak when it travels to South Carolina to take on the Gamecocks this weekend. Saturday’s kickoff is set for 12 pm EST on CBS.
