When Nick Fitzgerald ran in from two yards out in the third quarter, Mississippi State did something no other team has pulled off against Alabama in the Nick Saban era.

It gave the Bulldogs’ a 21-17 lead with 6:03 remaining and it followed two rushing touchdowns from Aeris Williams. Williams scored his touchdowns in the first half, from 11 and five yards out, as the game was tied at halftime.

It’s the first time an opponent has rushed for three touchdowns against Alabama while Saban has been the coach.

By late in the third quarter, the Bulldogs had 155 rushing yards against the Crimson Tide as they had about a 20-minute edge in time of possession.
