Former Green Bay Packers WR turned NFL analyst James Jones was impressed by former LSU WR DJ Chark during the Senior Bowl Saturday.

Because of his big performance, Chark was picked as the South’s co-MVP. He finished with five catches for 160 yards, which was more receiving yards than any one game during his LSU career. He hauled in an impressive 63-yard catch and a 75-yard TD, and Chark also showed he could stand out special teams, making a second-half tackle on the kickoff team.

Following his big day, Jones said Chark really stood out, via NFL.com.

“Second half, DJ Chark,” Jones said. “He showed everything he could do. He can rush the ball for nine yards. He had five catches for 160 yards. But then he had two solo tackles on special teams, too. Coach Mike used to always tell us … the young receivers used to come in and he’d say, ‘I got receivers. I need some people who can play some special teams and be able to get on the field at anytime.’ And he was able to show everything he could do today.”

Special teams is a great way for young players to turn heads in the NFL, and with Chark showing he’s willing to do anything to get on the field, folks are taking notice.

Former NFL great Terrell Davis added that Charles Davis thinks Chark is going to be a better pro than college player, mostly because of the lack of QB play at LSU.

“He (Charles Davis) thinks he’s (Chark) going to be a better pro than college, because of the QBs he had in college. He didn’t really have any great ones. He thinks he’s going to be an outstanding pro.”

It’ll be interesting to see how high Chark is picked in the upcoming NFL Draft.
