Ohio State’s investigation into the allegations against Urban Meyer and what exactly he knew about Zach Smith is over. The school’s investigation ended on Sunday with officials set to meet and discuss the findings with the Ohio State board of trustees on Wednesday.

Interestingly enough, that meeting will be verbally communicated to the board of trustees — theoretically, so no notes can be taken for public record. Well if that didn’t give you an indication of where this thing was headed, this note may.

According to Lucas Sullivan of the Columbus Dispatch, those connected to the investigation believe Meyer will remain in place as Ohio State’s coach and his only punishment could be for the time he’s been suspended since the allegations of what he knew regarding Zach Smith’s behavior was reported by Brett McMurphy.

Two sources connected to the investigation said the likely recommendation is a suspension for Meyer. Drake and the board could also opt for a “time served” punishment since Meyer has been removed from football activities for more than two weeks.

While Meyer appeared destined to be let go by the school early into this process, it now appears he’s likely a lock to remain and may not be suspended at all for the coming season.
