Perhaps the most recognizable analyst in college football, ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit annually rates the best parts about college football, from superstar players and coaches, to hotels and restaurants.

These picks will be discussed at 8 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday on ESPN2 in “The Herbies Preseason Special.”

As expected, the SEC was well represented in “The Herbies.”

Jeffery Simmons of Mississippi State and A.J. Brown of Ole Miss were each recognized as an “ultimate game changer,” while South Carolina’s Deebo Samual was selected as a “most exciting player.” Samuel was also picked in the group as “most explosive player.”

Alabama’s Damien Harris was named among the “throwback players,” while Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa was picked alongside Georgia stars D’Andre Swift and D’Andre Walker as a “breakout star.”

Of Herbstreit’s five games he’s looking forward to, two came from the SEC: Auburn vs. Washington and Florida at Mississippi State.

Florida and Missouri were projected to be “surprise teams,” while LSU is on the list of teams “taking a slight step back.”

Hungry? Two restaurants in the SEC footprint made the cut: Sotto Sotto in Atlanta and Chuck’s Fish in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Meanwhile, The Hotel at Auburn University made his list of top five hotels.
