Arkansas is three days away from opening the 2018 season against Eastern Illinois. That leaves little time left to prepare, but the defense appears ready.

And going against Morris’ offense during practice, it will certainly help the defensive tempo, something they’ve worked on dating back to spring practice.

  • From a tempo standpoint, getting the calls in, getting them in quickly, it’s been helpful dating back to the spring.

Arkansas posted a very disappointing 4-8 record last year and fired coach Bret Bielema.

Morris came to Arkansas after three seasons as head coach at SMU. He posted just a 14-22 record during his tenure, but the Mustangs went 7-5 in his final season and featured one of the top offenses in the American Athletic Conference.

Prior to coaching at SMU, Morris served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Clemson from 2011-2014. He helped lay a foundation on offense that has turned Clemson into one of the premier programs in the country.
