Lane Kiffin is officially the new head coach at Ole Miss, but Arkansas may still be considering a Conference USA coach from the Sunshine State.

College football insider Bruce Feldman reports that current FIU coach Butch Davis, a former Razorback football player, is a possible candidate to be UA’s next head coach.

Davis, who turned 68 in November, is best known for his time as the Miami Hurricanes head coach (1995-2000), helping build the UM powerhouse program at the turn of century. His overall record as a college head coach is 86-58, in part due to North Carolina’s two seasons of vacated wins (2009-10) due to the academic fraud/ineligibility scandal that led to his firing. Davis has been at FIU since 2017 and is 23-15 overall as the Panthers head coach. FIU went 6-6 in 2019.

Davis coached the NFL’s Cleveland Browns from 2001-04, going 24-35.
