Arkansas and Missouri reportedly considering the same candidate for their coaching vacancies
Coaching search season is in full swing, and Ole Miss is the only SEC team so far to fill its vacancy as Lane Kiffin officially took the job on Saturday.
That leaves Arkansas and Missouri, and both teams may be vying for the same candidate, according to FootballScoop.
Appalachian State head coach Eli Drinkiwitz has only been in Boone for one full season, but a 12-1 campaign that finished as Sun Belt Champions will have other schools calling Drinkiwitz’s agent to pull him away.
Drinkiwitz denied the connection to Missouri and Arkansas following the Sun Belt Championship Game, calling them “fake news” but he also noted, “At the same time, every opportunity, I owe it to my family to see if that’s something we’re interested in.”
Previously, Drinkiwitz spent three seasons as the offensive playcaller under Dave Doeren at NC State before being hired at Appalachian State.
At the moment, he is denying all rumors, but as we know, anything is possible during the coaching search season.
Eli Drinkwitz initially dismissed questions about Arkansas as "fake news," then left the door wide open.
"Every opportunity, I owe it to my family to see if that's something that we're interested in."
