When Ole Miss and USC announced this week the two programs plan on playing a home-and-home series in the years to come, Mike Bohn was simply giving his fan base what they wanted.

If you missed the details of the series, Ole Miss is scheduled to play at USC’s Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Aug. 30, 2025. The Trojans are scheduled to then return the favor the following season by making the trip to Oxford to play in Vaught Hemingway Stadium on Sept. 19, 2026.

During a recent appearance on “The Paul Finebaum Show,” USC AD Mike Bohn said he was “thrilled” to schedule the Rebels and give the USC fan base more games against SEC competition — something the Trojan fans have been calling during his short tenure running the athletic department.

When asked how he plans to return USC football to glory, Bohn noted the need to invest in the program, much like Alabama has done under Nick Saban.

“Well I think it starts with an investment, and it’s not just financial investments, Paul,” Bohn said during his appearance on the show. “I think you look at successful programs, obviously one that you follow very very closely, and you start looking at trying to provide matchups that give us the notoriety that we have been a part of — as you mentioned, for so many years.

“For example, we’re thrilled we’re playing a home-and-home with Ole Miss. We have had not had an SEC opponent in the Coliseum since 2005. And we recognize that, you know, the upcoming matchup with Alabama and the ability to play on that stage, that’s what our recruits, that’s what our alumni like Keyshawn [Johnson] and Matt Lineart and so many others that I talked to, expect us to be able to do and want us to do, and that’s that spirit of competition that exists here.”

It’s interesting that Bohn specifically mentioned the two matchups USC has upcoming against SEC opponents. Clearly the Trojans know where the best college football is played and in order to see where they stand in comparison, the only way to find out is to meet the SEC on the field.
