As protests continue around the country, college football players are making their voices heard.
In Mississippi, Ole Miss players spent the weekend at rallies and protests calling for change. One particular item? Some players reportedly would like a statue of a Confederate soldier moved from its current place on the school’s campus.
Per ESPN’s Chris Low and Andrea Adelson, the players have the full support of new Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin:
“After hearing their voices, I fully support them wanting that statue moved,” Kiffin said.
The reports says the statue is currently located outside the school’s main administrative building. Players would like it to be moved to a Civil War cemetery in a different part of campus.
The statue was vandalized on May 30 during protests.
