Vanderbilt 3B/SS Austin Martin chosen with No. 5 overall pick in 2020 MLB Draft

The COVID-19 pandemic cost us a chance to see if the Vanderbilt Commodores could repeat as champions, but MLB squads didn’t lose their love for Vandy star SS/3B/OF Austin Martin.
During the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft on Wednesday night, Martin was the third SEC player off the board, going to the Toronto Blue Jays with the No. 5 overall pick.
In 2019 (the last full season of college baseball), Martin appeared in 65 games. He had 105 hits, 10 home runs, 46 RBI, 18 stolen bases and an impressive .392 batting average.

The Blue Jays ended up with an overall record of 67-95 in 2019, good for fourth place in the AL East, ahead of only the Baltimore Orioles.
