The No. 1 prospect in the 2021 recruiting cycle from the state of Michigan is ready to make his college decision.

That’s the latest from five-star defensive lineman Damon Payne, who announced on Friday he will be making his college commitment at the end of the month.

“Thank you to all the schools that have offered me I will be announcing my commitment on July 26th,” Payne shared.

The 6-foot-3, 297-pound Belleville High School standout is rated as a five-star recruit, the nation’s top defensive tackle prospect and a top 20 overall recruit in the country for the 2021 recruiting cycle by 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Michigan’s top recruit for the 2021 recruiting cycle previously announced he’s considering the following schools: Alabama, Kentucky, LSU, Arizona State, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oregon, Michigan, Penn State and USC.

When his high school career comes to an end, Payne is committed to participating in the 2021 Under Armour All-American Game in Orlando.
