The steal of the New Orleans Saints’ 2020 draft class might not even be a draftee.

Former Tennessee wide receiver Marquez Callaway signed with New Orleans in April after the completion of the 2020 Draft and has managed to not only make the team, but see the field as a rookie.

In New Orleans’ Christmas Day win over the Minnesota Vikings, Callaway logged three catches for 26 yards, bringing his rookie total to 18 catches for 162 yards over 10 games. While those aren’t Rookie of the Year numbers, Saints wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders sees a bright future for the former Vol.

“Marquez Callaway, I’m telling you guys, you guys better remember his name,” Sanders told reporters. “If the guy stays healthy, he’s going to be a special player in this league. He’s not even close to hitting his peak just based off how he’s built. Good, humble kid – wants to work hard. He’s a guy, man… they said it’s a good rookie receiver class, nobody’s talking about him. This guy is a player.”

Callaway and the Saints head into Sunday’s regular-season finale against the Carolina Panthers with a guaranteed playoff spot, but New Orleans’ postseason seed depends on the outcome of that game and others.
