Alabama’s Will Anderson, one of the top linebackers in the country, left Saturday’s game against Mercer with a right knee injury.

After the game, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban said the injury was being evaluated and that Anderson’s status for this Saturday’s game at No. 11 Florida was up in the air.

On Monday, during his weekly press conference, Saban had an update on Anderson that was more positive than what he was able to offer Saturday, saying that he was feeling “a little more encouraged” about Anderson’s status.

Anderson, a preseason All-American, started every game for the Tide as a freshman in 2020, piling up 52 tackles, 10.5 tackles for losses, and 7 sacks.

He was rated as a 5-star prospect and the 17th-best player in the 2020 recruiting class by the 247Sports composite.
