Texas A&M has been without QB1 Haynes King since the redshirt freshman was injured in the team’s Week 2 game at Colorado. It appears King won’t be returning any time soon.

Ahead of the Alabama-Texas A&M game, Jamie Erdahl of CBS Sports relayed word from Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher that King is “unlikely” to play again in the 2021 season.

Redshirt sophomore Zach Calzada relieved King in the Colorado game and led the Aggies to a 10-7 victory in Denver. In Calzada’s 3 starts prior to Saturday, the Aggies are 1-2, beating New Mexico but falling to SEC West foes Arkansas and Mississippi State.

Calzada entered Saturday’s game as a 69-of-128 passer, throwing for 744 yards, 5 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Calzada has also rushed 22 times for 32 yards and a TD through the first 5 games
