Mike Norvell is really looking forward to Saturday’s game in Gainesville, but will be the third time in 4 games between the two programs that one side of the FSU-UF rivalry will have an interim coach.

Following the Dan Mullen firing, the Florida State coach called this a “new age of college football” when asked about the volatility and expectations of the game at this level.

While the teams didn’t meet last season, Norvell said, “It’s one of the great games that college football provides, I’ve been looking forward to this one. To say I’m excited would be an understatement.”

Norvell said he emphasizes this game, and the Miami game, in fall camp.

“I know what this game means — if you don’t get up for this game, go do something else,” he said. “This is why you play, this is why you coach.”

Florida has won 2 straight in the series.
