Vanderbilt just lost one of its assistant coaches to Louisiana, according to Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports.

LaMar Morgan has become the new defensive coordinator for Louisiana. Morgan was the cornerback coach at Vanderbilt for two years and did the same job at Louisiana before moving on to Nashville. Morgan, who also graduated from Louisana, is also friends and a former teammate with new head coach Michael Desormeaux.

The Vanderbilt Commodores, who didn’t win a conference game this season, finished near the bottom of the NCAA (118th) in total defense giving up an average of 457 yards per game.

Louisiana, on the other hand, finished 23rd in the country in total defense, which may explain why Morgan wanted to come back home.
