Danny Kanell, Greg McElroy exchange barbs on Twitter over number of bowl games

Love them or hate them, bowl games are seemingly here to stay.
This year, there were 42 bowl games originally scheduled, though some have had to be canceled or altered due to COVID-19 issues.
Still, when there are bowl games pitting 6-6 teams against one another, some in the media, like noted SEC troll Danny Kanell, aren’t always happy about it.
That led to a heated Twitter exchange this week, as SEC Network analyst Greg McElroy called out Kanell for saying bowl season should be contracted:
When I worked with Danny on SXM, I genuinely thought he enjoyed CFB. I was wrong.
Save the “participation trophy” argument. It’s for the players and those that watch. You’re not FORCED to watch.
Gimme football EVERY SINGLE DAY. I wish we had 65 bowls for every single FBS team. https://t.co/fmOpO1a83g

Kanell didn’t take McElroy’s response lying down, though. He questioned why McElroy held the stance he held:
Ummm so you want another regular season game? Bowls are supposed to be special. They are not. Have a pulse of the players not the company you work for. https://t.co/csqDYpZmNe

This debate isn’t going away any time soon. For now, we’ll continue to have dozens of bowl games every year. We’ll see what happens if and when the College Football Playoff expands, though.
