Chris Rodriguez, the dynamic Kentucky running back, has announced his plans for the 2022 season.

He wrote in his Monday announcement that his goals at college were to re-write the record books, and be the first in his family to graduate from college.

“I’m so close to accomplishing both of those goals, and because of that, I would like to announce that I will be coming back for another year!,” Rodriguez said. “I know coming back will make me better, not only for myself but also for my team and the people around me.”

Rodriguez rushed for more than 100 yards in 9 games and finished the season with the school’s fifth-highest single-season rushing yardage. He had 1,379 and 9 touchdowns this season, which was second in the SEC behind Missouri’s Tyler Badie.

Rodriguez has 26 career rushing touchdowns, which is tied for the second-most in program history.

Rodriguez is the latest addition for a strong roster at Kentucky for 2022, which includes QB Will Levis, along with a strong recruiting class that was ranked in the top 15 nationally, highlighted by offensive tackle Kiyaunta Goodwin. That trio will be with linebackers Jordan Wright and Jacquez Jones, who have said they would return to Lexington in 2022.
