Kaleb James, a 6-foot-4 and 250-pound defensive line recruit out of Mansfield, Texas, has announced his commitment to play in the SEC.

James committed to Arkansas, and told Whole Hog Sports why he chose the Razorbacks.

“Just because Coach Pittman is so real and everything about Arkansas is just blue collar and work hard,” said James, who is celebrating his 17th birthday today. “That’s the type person I am.”

James is a 3-star recruit and ranked the No. 51 defensive lineman in the class of 2023 by the 247Sports Composite. He’s the No. 54 player in the state of Texas, and has a reported 22 offers, including the likes of Oklahoma, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Utah, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Minnesota and Arizona.

His said the recent visit to talk with the coaching staff was a clincher.

“The visit was a lot of fun,” James said. “I made a bigger relationship with the coaches, got to know them more. I had a good conversation with Coach Pittman. Also talked to him a lot more and got to know him a lot more.”

James previously visited the Razorbacks for the Auburn and Missouri football games.

“This visit, you could actually sit down, get to know them as a person, what their views are about, what they view this program as and things like that,” he said.
