Tony Vitello is leading the hottest team in the country in college baseball as the No. 1-ranked Tennessee Volunteers continue to impress.

They’re now up to 23 straight wins after they swept Missouri this weekend. The Vols are the first SEC team to start 12-0, and the team is 31-1 after they recorded their seventh sweep of the season with the win on Sunday which tied a program record. It also ties LSU for the second-most consecutive wins by an SEC team ever.

“We’ve got a ridiculous group in a lot of different ways,” Vitello said on the SEC Network. “They need more taming down than anything. So I’ve kind of turned from coach into babysitter, but they’re very fun to be around.”

The Vols on Sunday were fueled by Luc Lipcius’s 2 home runs, which was the second multi-home run game of his career.

On the mound, Drew Beam threw 6 1/3 innings and struck out a career-high 7 batters as he earned his seventh victory of the season. Beam allowed 2 runs on 6 hits before he was relieved by Will Mabrey and Redmond Walsh out of the bullpen.
