South Carolina has reportedly added a non-conference game for its 2023 schedule.

The Jacksonville State student newspaper, The Chanticleer, reported that Greg Seitz, JSU’s Athletic Director, told the Board of Trustees on Monday that the school has a verbal agreement for JSU football to play the University of South Carolina for $1.3 million in 2023. South Carolina appeared to have non-conference games already scheduled with North Carolina, Furman and Liberty, so it’s unclear if there was a change with those agreements.

About 5 months ago, JSU hired Rodriguez as the program will soon join Conference USA.

Rodriguez moved to JSU after he was the offensive coordinator this season at Louisiana Monroe under Terry Bowden. Rodriguez has been the conference coach of the year 5 times in 3 different leagues.

Rodriguez previously was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Ole Miss (2019), and previously served for 6 seasons as head coach at Arizona (2012-17). He earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors in 2014 after leading the Wildcats to their first 10-win season in over 15 years. He also guided the Mountaineers to 3 10-win seasons.
