The New York Giants appear ready to move on from Kadarius Toney. Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports that the Giants are making calls to see what they can get in a trade for Toney.

Toney had an up-and-down rookie season with the Giants, playing in 10 games (4 starts) and recording 39 catches for 420 yards. The high point of Toney’s 2021 season came in Week 5 against the Dallas Cowboys when he broke Odell Beckham Jr.’s Giants rookie record with a 10-catch, 189-yard performance. Toney, though, was tossed from that same game for throwing a punch at Cowboys safety Damontae Kazee during the 44-20 loss.

Leonard writes that the Giants questioned Toney’s commitment “due to lack of playbook study, poor meeting behavior and frequent injuries.” Toney missed time with injuries to his hamstring, ankle, thumb, quad, oblique and shoulder. He also had 2 positive COVID-19 tests.

The Giants changed coaches this offseason, hiring Brian Daboll. Per Leonard, Toney has not yet shown up for any workouts in the Daboll staff’s 2022 offseason program.

Coming off of the most productive season of his Florida career, Toney was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.
