Bryan Harsin is going to Talladega. The Superspeedway announced Saturday that the Auburn football head coach will be the Honorary Pace Car Driver for Sunday’s GEICO 500 NASCAR Cup Series race.

The 188-lap event on Talladega’s 2.66-mile, 33-degree banked venue is set for a 2 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET start Sunday.

Bennett Durando of the Montgomery Advertiser points out Harsin’s father runs The Outlaw Dale Harsin Racing team in Idaho and Bryan had dreams of being a drag racer. He last raced in 2006.

“That’s something that it’s in my blood,” Harsin said in 2021. “It’s part of who I am.”

On The Plains, Auburn wrapped up its second spring under Harsin earlier this month. The Tigers went 6-7 overall and 3-5 in SEC play in Year 1 under Harsin.
