Jimbo Fisher is still fired up about the name, image and likeness accusations lobbed toward his players and the Texas A&M program. Fisher is so agitated that he doubled checked with his compliance department and he was told only 1 player of the 11 early enrollees has an NIL deal.

Fisher recalled previous comments that described the Aggies as having a $35 million fund to pay players NIL deals.

“That’s all false, it was written on social media so everybody believes it,” Fisher said in an exclusive interview with KSAT. “It was written on social media, so everybody believes it. You’ve got news channels believing it and big people believing it, and you believed it.”

Fisher got into a spirited back and forth during the interview about media research and accuracy with KSAT 12’s Greg Simmons. Fisher then turned to Simmons and accused him of believing the false story, and dismissed Nick Saban’s part of the story.

“He’s not news, you’re news,” Fisher said. “You’re media. Do you guys not research? I’m asking you, did you do your research. No, no, see you can’t answer. So you just assumed, and that’s the way this world goes now. Something’s written on social media and someone says it, you believe it. So where does that put you guys as reporters? It’s because social media and media put it out. … Nothing’s changed. You want a story and a click and a hit. See, I threw you off your game right now.”
